Named one of the best small towns in America, plan your escape to Saranac Lake, NY, just 10 miles west of Lake Placid in the Adirondack Park. Our area has year-round fun, from hiking, boating, and biking in the summer to skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing in the winter. The best part? We are just steps from the Adirondack Rail Trail, a beautiful trail that connects Saranac Lake to Lake Placid and Tupper Lake. Your Adirondack adventure starts here!

About the Area

Saranac Lake is a charming and vibrant community, backed by historical roots tied to the Adirondack region.  It has been recognized as a "Best Small Town in America" and a "Dozen Distinctive Destinations" by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the National Civic League. Lake Placid, the home of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics, is close by, where you can visit Olympic sites, shops, and more.

Our building was built circa 1902, directly across the street from the famous Saranac Lake Union Depot. The Depot was originally built in 1904, and was used for passenger and freight service until 1972, where it was later reopened as a scenic tourist train. In 2022, the tracks were removed to assist with creating the Adirondack Rail Trail, our property's namesake.

As the second owners of the property, we are proud to showcase the natural beauty of the Adirondacks that we grew up in. Our love for this area started during our youth, and continued as we introduced our kids to the area, and decided to come back after our retirement.

Part of the first floor of the building is a primary care facility for the Veterans Administration, with the Inn currently housing two units on the second floor and a unit on the first floor. Each unit has a full kitchen, living area, and outdoor deck for your enjoyment.

We are delighted to welcome you to the ADK Railtrail Inn, and are excited for you to see why we, and so many others, love Saranac Lake and the Adirondacks.
